Abstract
The current substance use treatment situation in the Krasnoyarsk Krai is changing under the influence of socioeconomic conditions, new migration flows, and the emergence of new psychoactive substances. Historical analysis, the establishment of continuity in medical traditions, and the identification of objective factors determining the effectiveness of care allow assessing objectively the current substance use treatment situation, predicting its development, preventing the negative consequences, and fostering the thoughtful and responsible approach to work.Objective: to analyze the history and development of narcological services in the Krasnoyarsk Krai and the role of the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology at Krasnoyarsk State Medical University (KrasSMU). Methods: analysis of scientific publications in the Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed databases. Results. The leadership and staff of the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology (with a postgraduate course) at Krasnoyarsk State Medical University laid the foundation and played a key role in the establishment and development of the regional narcological service. They were instrumental in its creation, initiated the development of a treatment system for patients with alcohol dependence, and contributed to the implementation of advanced medical technologies in pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and physiotherapy.
