Abstract

Study aim – to estimate possibility of application and efficiency of therapy with Naltrexone in patients with comorbid course of pulmonary tuberculosis and alcoholism against the background of tubercular regimen. Results. We investigated efficiency of antialcohol therapy in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. We used a combination of 50 mg Naltrexone and tubercular regimen in 92 patients who had new-onset pulmonary tuberculosis and alcohol-related psychiatric disorders. A group of control included similar patients without antialcohol therapy (n=104). Naltrexone lowered both alcohol intake amount and duration of drinking bouts. 92.3% of patients were cured from pulmonary tuberculosis in case of voluntary intake of Naltrexone treatment and attempted alcohol use refusal at least once in life. Combination of Naltrexone and tubercular regimen did not heighten the risk of side effects except of vomiting. Treatment compliance during the study was 81.5%.
